This stunning chess master's board is made of Peruvian Walnut & Curly Maple hardwoods. The noble Staunton design chess pieces of solid hardwood are made of Golden Rosewood & Maple. We have switched from Indian Rosewood to Golden Rosewood or Ebonized wood due to the ban on Indian Rosewood. The board is made of Peruvian Walnut and Curly Maple with an African Sapele frame. The board is framed to allow for expansion of the solid wood interior. A tongue and groove joint is used to hold the frame together. The pieces are made of Golden Rosewood or Ebonized wood and Maple. The chess box is made of African Sapele with a removable lid. The pieces pictured are Indian Rosewood but Golden Rosewood or Ebonized wood will be the set that is sent. The Golden Rosewood will look a little lighter in color in line with the frame of the chess board and the Ebonized wood will look darker.
Indian Rosewood is now on the endangered list and can not be used anymore.
